Why a photo has no location

What you are seeing

When you open a photo, the top of the page tells you one of five things:

• Good to go. Everything needed is there. The pins go on and you can download.
• Good to go, new drone. Everything is there, but we have not seen this drone model before. Look over the pins before you download.
• Check it. Something is weaker than usual, such as the GPS signal or a zoomed-in photo. The page says what. You can still download.
• Not yet. The photo is missing something we need. The page says what is missing. There is nothing to download.
• Refused. The photo cannot be pinned. Nothing is placed and nothing is spent.

The usual cause

The photo was saved out of an editing app, or sent through a chat app. Those copies lose the hidden note that records where the drone was and which way the camera pointed.

How to fix it

1. 01Find the original file on the memory card or in the drone app.
2. 02Upload that file instead.
3. 03If the original also says Not yet, the drone did not record enough. A weak GPS signal at take-off is the usual reason.

Photos from the same flight

If several photos from one flight disagree about which way the camera faced, the page says so. Check the pins on each photo before you download.

Nothing is charged

A photo that cannot be pinned costs nothing. Credits are only taken when a download works.
